The Killer Queen

Prom day has finally rolled around as people gather in the huge ballroom for this once in a lifetime experience. However, this high school trembles in fear as they put on their dresses and suits. After all, it’s time for The Prom Queen to strike again.

Prom day. Practically every student looks forward to this day impatiently because, well, IT’S PROM. Everywhere, boys are rushing to get flowers for their dates and try to perfect their bows. Meanwhile girls struggle to put on their dresses because GODDAMNIT why are they so tight!

It’s all part of the experience though. Something you definitely want to do at least once. Everyone of us have dreamed of the perfect prom night, haven’t we? The funny thing is, this special night in Wellington High School is remembered due to a very unique, and dare I say, horrifying reason.

One couldn’t count on their fingers how many girls redid their eye makeup because they were terrified out of their mind, and how any boys screamed into their pillows because this night might very well be their last. One thought lingered in each ones mind-

What if they were the ones to be picked by The Prom Queen.

You might think that this is a good thing. No, no, a million times no. Whatever you do. Do not be late to the venue. Do not over shadow her. Do not speak to her unless she approaches you. And for God’s sake, do not ever look into her eyes.

If she lifts your chin to make eye contact with you, you have 10 minutes to say goodbye to your friends, call your family, and do whatever you want to do. Those will be the final 10 minutes of your life, savour them as much as you can.

She took a liking to you, and that just proves how unfortunate you are.

It saddens me whenever me transfer students are introduced to our class because they don’t know these rules and God forbid anyone tells them. She’s just cruel like that.

Ahh, no one can tell what she really is at first glance though. Her beautiful emerald eyes just look so… Inviting. Captivating. Hypnotizing. If only a persons true intentions were displayed on their face. Then many people would know to avoid her. However, that isn’t possible.

Even now we see her right there, in the middle of the dance floor, her beautiful eyes scanning the room. She’s looking for her next victim. There are many options this time. This year has had a lot of bullies.

Ohh, I think I might have forgotten to tell you. She targets bullies. The worst ones. She watches them the whole year, and chooses the final victim on prom night. The others don’t know she only targets bullies though. She doesn’t tell them to instill that fear, and to make sure she punishes the right people. She may kill others for fun sometimes though.

She has known that fear, and that too from a very young age. She was abandoned by everyone that she could lean on, and then even bullied after that.

The universe has been cruel to her, and she intends to get payback. No one, not a student, not the police, not even God can stop her now. She has descended down from a spiral of madness that one could ever climb back up from.

Look at her. Everyone is terrified out of their wits, and yet her graceful self has enraptured the mind of everyone I see here. Whether it be want, fear, jealousy, or admiration, she’s the one on the mind of every single person in this room. And I’m not even ashamed to say that I’m one of those many. No matter what she has done and continues to do, she is a sight to look at. A very beautiful one, if I may say so myself.

Ohh look, it seems she has her eyes on someone. And there she goes grabbing his chin. I feel bad for the poor guy. Not really though. He pushed two students to suicide. He honestly deserves what’s coming to him.

“I have a question though. How do you know so much about her. What you know can’t possibly be something that someone who watches from a distance knows.”

“One thing I’ll tell you about me. A few years ago people used to call me ‘The Survivor’. And now, they just call me ‘The Prom King’. And I think that says enough in itself.”

Saying this, Noah stepped away from the student who was left standing with his mouth agape. He stepped onto the dance floor as ‘The Prom Queen’ walked towards him and held her hand out for him as she said,

“Care for a dance, my King?”
